Bachelor of Applied Computing
Official university degree program in computer science in Zaragoza
CESTE’s Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Computingis an accredited computer science program that trains you to become a versatile technology professional. From day one, you’ll work with programming, databases, networking, cybersecurity, software development, and data, combining a solid technical foundation with a practical approach that addresses real-world market needs.
Unlike the traditional Spanish computer engineering degree program, thisbachelor’s degree in computer sciencefollows the British university system of theUniversity of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD): small class sizes, continuous assessment through projects, and faculty members who are active professionals in the technology sector. The result is a more flexible program, more closely aligned with the real business world, and one that can be completed in3 yearsinstead of 4. It is the practical alternative to computer engineering, accessible without a minimum admission score.
In addition, upon graduation, you will receive anofficial British qualification equivalent to a Spanish university degree, registered in the Registry of Universities, Centers, and Degrees of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. This qualification opens doors for you in any technology market, whether domestic or international, without requiring any additional paperwork to work in the private sector.
Why Study the BAC at CESTE
What sets the BAC apart from a traditional computer science degree
🎓
Official British degree without leaving Spain
From the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), recognized in Spain, the EU, and the United Kingdom. Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, it qualifies graduates to enroll in official master’s programs and to work in private companies without additional paperwork.
⚡
Graduate a year early
3 years compared to the 4 years required for a Spanish computer engineering degree. In an industry that values early experience, you gain a full year to enter the tech job market, earn your certification, and start contributing to the workforce while others are still in school.
🚫
Admission without a minimum college entrance exam score
The BAC is part of the British university system. It’s the pathway to studying computer science without taking the PAU: admission is based on your background and motivation. And if you don’t have the PAU or have a low score, the Foundation program prepares you to successfully transition into the program.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions About the Applied Computing Program
We answer the most common questions about CESTE's Bachelor's Degree in Applied Computing
What is a BAC, and how does it differ from Computer Engineering?
The BAC(Bachelor of Applied Computing)offered at CESTE University Center is an official university degree in applied computing, accredited by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD). Unlike a Spanish degree in Computer Engineering, the BAC has a more applied and practical focus rather than a theoretical-mathematical one: you learn by programming, deploying, and solving real-world problems in the lab, not by memorization. It is an internationally recognized British degree program, taught in small groups by professors who are active technology professionals. It lasts 3 years instead of 4 and does not require a minimum entrance score.
What is taught in the BAC, and what are the courses?
The curriculum covers the key technical areas of applied computer science: software development, computer architecture and networking, information engineering, databases, operating systems and security, data analysis and visualization, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. In addition to the core courses, each student specializes in one track: Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Big Data and AI, or Networking. The program also includes a university-awarded degree in Digital Business with certifications from AWS, Cisco, and Pearson.
Can I be admitted without having passed the PAU/EvAU or with a low score?
Yes. The BAC is part of the British university system, so passing the PAU/EvAU is not required. CESTE offers a Foundation program for students who have not taken the exam or who received a low score. This additional first year prepares students to successfully enter Level 4 of the main program, without needing to meet a minimum score requirement.
Is the degree officially recognized? Is it recognized in Spain and Europe?
Yes. The BAC awards an official British degree that is recognized within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and registered in the RUCT under code 8000085. ThisBachelor’s degree in Applied Computingallows graduates to work in private companies in the technology sector without any additional paperwork and to apply for credit equivalencies if they wish to take civil service exams.
Where can I take the BAC? Is it only in-person?
This computer science degree program with an international accreditation is offered in person at the CESTE campus in Zaragoza, but there is also a distance learning option for students from other provinces or countries, or those with work commitments. If you’re wonderingwhere to study computer sciencefor an internationally recognized degree, or if you’re lookingforacomputer science degree programwithin Spain that’s internationally recognized, CESTE in Zaragoza is one of the few options available in the country.
Can I enroll in an official master's program after graduating from high school?
Yes. This degree provides direct admission to official master’s programs. BAC graduates can pursue a master’s degree in Spain or abroad, particularly in technology-related fields. At CESTE, you can pursue the MRC (Networks and Cybersecurity), the MISIA (Software Engineering and AI), or the MIDS (Data Science & AI), all with exceptional financial terms.
Is the BAC program compatible with working while I study?
Yes. Starting in the second year, classes are held in the afternoons, allowing you to balance your studies with work or your first IT internship. You’ll also have access to recordings of all sessions for added flexibility. This is one of the most highly valued benefits for those seeking a flexiblecomputer science programthat fits their lifestyle.
Can I get credit for courses if I have a CFGS in computer science?
Yes. With an advanced vocational training certificate (CFGS) in the field of Computer Science and Communications (such as Application Development (DAW/DAM), Network Systems Administration (ASIR), or Cybersecurity), you can enter directly into Level 5 (2nd year), with the first year ofthe Bachelor’s in Applied Computing being waived. Credit recognition is also available for non-formal education and demonstrable work experience in related technological fields.
What professional certifications do I earn with the BAC?
In addition to the official UWTSD degree, during the BAC program you’ll work on industry-recognized tracks: AWS Academy (Cloud Foundations and, depending on your specialization, Data Analytics with Python or Cloud Computing), Cisco-style networking content (Switching & Routing), and Pearson PEIC English certification, along with Cambridge Linguaskill. These credentials boost your employability starting in your first year.
When is the next session, and how do I reserve a spot?
The next intake is in September 2026. The admissions process has limited spots available. We recommend that you start the process as soon as possible to secure your spot and take advantage of early registration discounts. Fill out the form and we’ll contact you within 24 hours.
